Red Rock Pediatrics was started by Dr. Martin Cohen in January 2000 as the only practice in the Verde Valley to exclusively serve children. Our current physicians are specially trained to provide a wide range of healthcare from birth through childhood and adolescence. Our philosophy is to work in partnership with you to achieve the best for your child’s health and development. We consider you, the parent, to be an integral part of the healthcare team and we will actively involve you in decision making regarding your child’s health and well-being.

We are a group practice of dedicated physicians.

We want you to understand that by bringing your child to a group practice, you will always have one of our doctors available to help you and to see your child when they are ill. If your child should ever be hospitalized – we will be there, at Verde Valley Medical Center, taking care of them. We do not ask other doctors to cover for us; we take care of our Red Rock Kids all the time.

We are open one evening a week so our working parents can schedule well child exams without interfering with their work schedules, and we can see your sick child when you get off work. We believe regularly scheduled well child care is very important – so we do our best to help our parents by offering evening office hours.

Walk-ins are always welcome and no appointment is needed all day, every day, but appointments can be made for Well Child Care by calling 649-3003.

Same Day Appointments:

If you need an appointment, we always have appointments available every day for sick children as well as your ability to be a walk-in patient if you don't need an appointment. Try to call as early in the day as possible, especially in the winter when we are busier. We open at 8:00 AM every day. We will try to have your child seen by their regular physician but if that physician is unavailable you may be asked to see one of our other pediatricians.

"Ask A Nurse" Triage Service:

We provide, at no charge to you, a 24 hour “ask a nurse” service for any questions related to your child. This is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

During our regular office hours you can call our office and ask to speak with one of our triage nurses. One of our nurses will return your call as soon as possible. Our office nurses are Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses trained in Pediatrics. Our doctors work very closely with our nurses to assure the best possible care for your children.

Calls to our nurses are returned in the order of the seriousness of the problem. Sometimes you may get a very rapid response but other times it may take a couple of hours to get back to you. Rest assured one of our nurses will call you back. Please furnish your home or cell phone number so we may call you back as quickly as possible.

After hours we work with a group of nurses from Phoenix Children’s Hospital who are specially trained in pediatric care and emergencies. Call our regular office number and upon hearing the recording, press 0. You will then be connected. If you have waited more than 30 minutes for a return phone call please call our office again.

We accept most insurance plans offered in the Verde Valley. If you are not sure whether we accept your insurance please ask our office staff and they can check for you. If you are enrolled in a plan with which we are contracted, we are required to collect any deductible or co-pay at the time of service. For non-contracted insurance we will expect payment in full at the time of service and we will provide a detailed statement for you to submit to your insurance company.

Your child may have one of our physicians as their PCP (Primary Care Provider), but when coming to our office he or she can see any physician or the nurse practitioner in our office and it will still be covered by your insurance.

We will bill secondary insurances as a courtesy to you. If your insurance plan changes please let our staff know. If you need assistance, contact the Billing Coordinator between 8:00 AM and 5:00PM Monday through Thursday at 649-3003.

Payment Arrangements:

Payment is required at the time services are rendered unless other arrangements are made. This includes applicable co-insurance and co-payments for participating insurance companies. When there is a financial need, we work with our parents to arrange payment plans. We want your child to be healthy; it is our concern as well as yours. Red Rock Pediatrics accepts cash, personal checks, VISA and Master Card and debit cards. There is a charge for returned checks. Overpayments will be refunded upon request to the responsible party within 30 days.

Missed Appointments:

Missed appointments represent a cost to us, to you and to other patients who could have been seen in the time set aside for your child. Cancellations are requested 24 hours prior to an appointment. If you know you are going to miss your child’s appointment we encourage you to call us as soon as possible so we can give that time to another sick child. Excessive abuse of missed appointments will result in a family being discharged from our practice.

Late for Appointments:

If you arrive late for your appointment, you may have to wait until patients who were on time for their appointments are seen first. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may ask you to reschedule your appointment for another day, depending on why your child needs to be seen. We appreciate your cooperation.

Web Site:

Here, at our web site,, you will find more information about our pediatricians, about a lot of information about children's medical problems and their treatments. The web site also has a Library section with books we recommend.

We hope this answers all of your questions, if not, please call our office at 649-3003.

We will be happy to help you.
